To celebrate the arrival of my new copper love I am releasing a small amount of this special whisky.
Matured for 4.5 years in an Australian Apera fortified wine cask then finished in an Australian rum cask for 4 weeks.
This unusual maturation has produced a richly flavoured, sweet and slightly funky whisky, with a unique flavour profile.
Nose: Initially, it’s the rum barrel that shows up – with tropical fruits of grilled pineapple and mango taking hold, before aromas of dried fruits, toasted nuts and malt appear.
Taste: More Apera here, with a wave of decadent plums, figs and dried fruit. Nutmeg, vanilla and oak spice emerge later, alongside a little brown sugar sweetness and an extra serve of pineapple.
Finish: Full and long, though balanced nicely.
